How good are phone cameras?
Do you have a cat? Gone out for Sunday morning eggs on toast? Like the look of yourself with a great view in the background?
Then read no further because if this is you, then smart phone cameras are perfect!
But … if you have a business, a worthwhile venture that feeds the cat and allows you to have someone else cook your breakfast, then your business photography needs to be so much more than a random shot with your phone.
If you’re in need of a LinkedIn headshot, then a selfie that gives your head the appearance of a tic tac only serves one purpose … to give me the giggles.
Where phone cameras excel is for the convenience of grabbing reference shots. Pretty much anything that you need to catch in a hurry and will be disposed of as soon as the use is dealt with. It is the polar opposite of what you would need for a planned and creative image capture for your business, service or product.
So are these cameras any good? That is the question!
Of course. They are time savers. Much like the mobile phone from whence they came! Remember how convenient mobile phones were when they first arrived?
What has happened is the phone has morphed into so much more. Shoot on the fly, add a filter, post to “social media”, pay for your groceries, stream music and watch your shows … all in the palm of your hand.
When shooting for business, you need to have the edge. Create the very best you can to sell yourself, your business, products or service. This is where hiring a professional is the solution to your photography needs.
