Frequently asked Questions
These are the most common questions, but please reach out if you have a question not covered!
1. What types of photography do you specialise in?
I focus on commercial photography, working with businesses across Tasmania to create images that highlight architecture, products, people, and brand stories. My work often spans industries such as construction, hospitality, health and aged care, agribusiness and tourism.
2. Do you work with both large companies and smaller businesses?
Yes. I work with everyone from major builders and national brands through to local businesses and sole operators. Whether it’s a large-scale project or a smaller portfolio, my goal is always to deliver images that make an impact. If you’re excited by what you do and make, then I’m excited to work with you!
3. Can you handle projects that require security clearance or restricted site access?
Absolutely. I’m experienced in working on secure sites such as airports, hospitals, schools, large commercial constructions sites and industrial facilities, and I’m familiar with the protocols required to operate safely and professionally in those environments.
4. How do you approach capturing a business brand or story through photography?
I begin by understanding your business goals and the story you want to tell. From there, we work together to plan the shoot to highlight your strengths and brand differences. Whether that’s craftsmanship, scale, atmosphere, or attention to detail, the end result is imagery that supports your brand and marketing.
5. What is your process from booking to delivery?
Once you get in touch, we’ll discuss your project, objectives, and timeline. We can build a brief, run schedule, then we capture the required images, and I handle all post production in house. You’ll receive a curated set of high-quality images ready for all you media needs from giant billboards to social sharing. I try to finish a project before starting another to keep image delivery fast and efficient so you can get on with the job of marketing your business!
6. How much time do you typically need on site?
It depends on the scale of the project. Some shoots take a few hours, while others require a full day or more to ensure every angle and detail is covered. I’ll always provide an estimate once I understand your requirements. Some projects have been regularly photographed over years (see CH Smith) and I have clients that remain relevant by gathering collateral for their marketing and branding for many years.
7. Do you provide both high-resolution and web-optimised images?
Yes. You’ll receive high-resolution files for print and smaller, web-optimised versions for fast loading online, so your images look their best wherever you use them. All images are optimised for colour and white balance etc on calibrated monitors, both in my digital lab and onsite for instant (unpolished) viewing and sign off as required.
8. How quickly can I expect my photos to be delivered?
Turnaround times vary depending on the project, but with my commitment to you and advanced workflows, you can expect results within 24-48 hours (Yes like lightning because your images matter!).
9. Do you offer post-production and retouching services?
Yes. Every image is carefully edited to ensure colour accuracy, sharpness, and impact. I also provide advanced retouching when needed to remove distractions or highlight key details. All post production is done in my digital lab in house.
10. Can you work directly with architects, builders, or marketing agencies?
Definitely. I regularly collaborate with project managers, design teams, and marketing professionals to ensure the imagery matches both creative and commercial objectives. Happy to guide and work with those who are in unfamiliar territory, working through concept to completion, fully documented and itemised.
11. What areas of Tasmania (or Australia) do you service?
I’m based in Launceston and work across all areas of Tasmania. Travel and accommodation charges apply outside my metro area. I’m happy to work with you if you have your own or corporate accommodation. I always have my own vehicle as I bring a large range of equipment to cover all the bases on your site/s.
12. Are you available for travel outside Tasmania?
Unfortunately the answer is no. If you need a photographer outside of Tasmania, I can recommend others that travel.
13. Do you offer licensing options for long-term or multi-use campaigns?
Yes. My images are supplied with clear licensing terms so you can use them confidently across your marketing, campaigns, and portfolio for as long as you need.
14. Can you photograph projects in progress as well as completed works?
Absolutely. Progress photography can be a powerful way to document the journey of a project, not just the finished result. These can be most helpful for tenders, education and compliance as well as keeping your audience informed by your progress.
15. Do you offer drone or aerial photography?
No. I do shoot elevated which gives a superb, yet different perspective while keeping the primary subject in context. If you are set on aerial imagery, or video for that matter, I can organise those services for you.
16. How should I prepare my business or project before the photoshoot?
Preparation makes a big difference. Before you make any changes, it’s best we have a conversation first before wasting time and effort that may not have to be done. This will be all part of my process.
17. What’s the best way to brief you on my project goals?
It all starts with a conversation. If you have brief, then it would be good to see that. Included should be such things as your purpose, audience, style, and intended use for the images. The clearer the brief, the better I can tailor the shoot to meet your goals. If you haven’t arrived at the stage of a brief, then I’m happy to help. Reach out!
18. Can you work around business hours to minimise disruption?
Yes. I understand that many workplaces need to keep running. I’m flexible and can schedule around your busiest times to reduce interruptions. For example if we are doing headshots, then I can come to your place of work, set up a studio and shoot your subjects quickly and individually to save them time away from their work. I’ve photographed many projects where buildings need to be vacant and that can often run late in the day or very early in the morning.
19. Do you have experience photographing in challenging conditions (low light, weather, tight spaces)?
Yes. Over the years I’ve worked in all kinds of environments and know how to adapt quickly to get strong results regardless of the conditions. I have technical cameras and an array of superb lenses as well as the very best software and two decades of acquired editing skills. I will say that unless weather forms part of the brief for brand or marketing strategy, then I try to avoid anything that looks “gothic”, or would compromise expensive electronic equipment.
20. What makes your work different from other commercial photographers?
I combine years of experience with a strong focus on storytelling. My images don’t just show what something looks like, they convey a sense of brand, place, and purpose. That’s why businesses across Tasmania trust me to deliver images that elevate their marketing and leave a lasting impression.
