I take my work seriously, but not myself. Life is too short!

A creative problem solver, dot joiner, I am here to support your business and brand.

I was raised in simpler times, when fun was sliding down a grassy hill on a bit of cardboard, around values of good intent and purpose, a deal on a handshake and a helping hand to those that needed one.

I’ve been around the block more than once, gathering a world of experience in many varied places until circumstance found me with a camera in my hand and not much else exciting or challenging me. I thought I’d give it a crack and see how it went and with luck a little work came my way.

Press on to today and I’m in my 18th year shooting commercial photography for businesses across Tasmania.

I love what I do and I am good at it. There’s talent for sure, although somehow things just seem to work out when I have a camera in my hands!

My first real job was on mainframe computers and after too many night and double shifts, another world beckoned and I eventually became a landscaper, dovetailing into earthmoving and civil works, re-railing and cable network maintenance.

A mixed grill for sure, although the knowledge gained is a solid takeaway!

Moving from the big rock to Tassie in 2002, I found a creative opportunity to support the long term unemployed. Giving people a “hand up” was rewarding for me and gave me a “front line” understanding of the implications of the affect this has on our community.

Businesses both small and large are the cornerstone of creating opportunities and income streams for our community.

By and large the photography they utilised to represent their businesses was terrible and I saw my opportunity there.

So in 2008 “Dave Groves Photography” was born and I went about creating imagery to give businesses the support they deserve. We can’t multi-task everything and “commercial photography” connects what businesses are good at and what I am good at. My career has given me “rock star” access to many people and places that I could never imagine. I’ve been fortunate to have captured photos all over Tasmania and helped businesses show themselves in the best way possible!

Rock on!
